The name "Wolf Eel ale" refers to the eel on the bottles label. The eel is
called a wolf eel, and is found in the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean off
the coast of the Northwestern United States (including coastal Oregon, the
state where the Rogue brewery is located). I believe this bottle was created
as a promotional series along with "spiny lumpsucker ale," and "whale ale" to
promote the opening of a public aquarium somewhere in that region of the
country. All three beers are just re-labeled from existing beers that Rogue
already makes. For example, I believe that Wolf Eel ale, is actually just
Rogue's famous Dead Guy ale with a different label. The folks at Rogue do
this sort of thing often, for people like us who collect bottles.(Thanks Boneheadandrube@aol.com) Tell us more
