Toppila 1 Tumma Olut

"Toppilan Tumma Olut" means "Dark beer of Toppila" The big roman 1
is referring to taxation class meaning this is light beer.

Toppilan Panimo (Toppila Brewery) was one of the many regional breweries
in Finland. Each have their own story. In case of TOP, the reason of collapse
was a combination of bad times and a rumour. The rumour in question was the
tradional story that someone had drowed on the beer. Although there was never
proved to be any truth behind it, the rumour was persistent. It was said that
TOP means "Talonmies On Poissa" (Housekeeper is Missing). Brewery had personnel
on some events walking around in overalls reading "Toppilan Talonmies", but
finally the brewery was sold to Hartwall (muistaako kukaan varmasti?),
which closed it down.

brewed in 1969
